ATTORNEY PROFILE
Attorney Robert E. Davis received his B.A. in sociology, May 1968 from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He then went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate degree in law, June of 1977 from Cleveland State University and was admitted to the Bar in November of 1977. Mr. Davis’s legal experience includes a concentration in labor and employment litigation from 1990 until 2002 at the Robert E. Sweeney, Co. L.P.A. He handled litigation and pre-trial negotiations of criminal cases and conducted special investigations for Cuyahoga County from 1978 until 1980. He was also employed as an assistant county prosecutor for Cuyahoga County in the criminal division from 1978 until 1980. Mr. Davis was employed in the public sector from 1980 until 1990 as an attorney with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority where he performed a variety of duties including bodily injury, property damage and construction litigation. He also served as the labor attorney for the Authority handling unfair labor practices, contract negotiations, arbitrations and various corporate matters. He is a former personnel representative with the TRW Corporation from 1974 through 1978 where he was involved in grievance hearings, contract negotiations, employee benefits, and human resource policies and practices.
Attorney Davis served honorably in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971. He is Vietnam veteran. Mr. Davis is involved in a number of civic and community associations including Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority – Board of Commissioners, East Side Catholic Charities Board of Trustees, Friends of the East Cleveland Library, Member & Former Vice President of Forest Hill Homeowners Association, Ohio Bar Association, American Bar Association, Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, the Cleveland Employrment Lawyers Association, the New Community Bible Fellowship Service and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
